Children’s Crusader Award Honors Dedication
of Foster Parents and Staff
Delta was one of two community-based agencies honored by the Philadelphia Department
of Human Services (DHS) at the 5th Annual Children’s Crusader Awards held in Philadelphia
on April 26 in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention month. The award honors
Delta staff and foster parents, who consistently provide high quality care by opening
their hearts to children in need.
“To be singled out from a pool of dozens of other excellent child welfare agencies is
something we are very proud of, and we will continue to strive to improve our services
to our clients, one family at a time,” says Scott Eldredge, director of Family Services.
Delta was nominated by regional child welfare community organizations, who chose nominees
from a list of over 100 DHS private provider agencies. In his acceptance comments at
the awards ceremony, Scott credited the dedicated foster parents and staff for their
commitment to Delta’s mission of improving the lives of Philadelphia’s children and to
achieving permanency for each child.
Delta was recognized for its ability to provide loving and nurturing homes for children
in the foster care system, meet contract goals, educate clients and the community about
the prevention of child abuse, and report in a timely manner. Delta’s programs of
Supervised Independent Living, Adoption, Medical Foster Care, Treatment Foster Care,
and Performance Based Contract Foster Care were noted for achieving excellent outcomes
for children.
